5 Best Lobster Restaurants in London: King of the Sea Diners

Lobster, regularly referred to as the King of Seafood. It is a delicacy with a light, sweet taste and tender, juicy meat. The best lobsters come from Maine and Canada’s icy cold Atlantic waters. Lobster has not always been the luxury it is today. Lobsters were plentiful before the 19th century. Netted and hand-caught in shallow waters, they were given to prisoners or used as field fertiliser.

Demand soared in the 1860s when canning became popular, making lobster a viable option for those who did not live beside the sea. As travel and tourism grew, people tasted the fresh taste of lobster, and the wealthy wanted it shipped to their inland homes, turning lobster into an expensive luxury. London is one of the top-ranked fine dining cities in the world, and here is our guide to where you can find some of the best lobster restaurants in London.

How to Eat Lobster

Lobster is easier to eat warm. You can use your fingers or seafood pliers with crackers.

  1. Twist each claw at the knuckles.
  2. Hold the lobster tail in one hand and the body in the other. Gently twist them apart.
  3. Twist the legs or smaller claws and pull from the body.

Once you have separated the lobster parts, crack down on the shell and then use a pick to scoop out the meat.
