6 Awesome Liverpool Street Restaurants: Tantalizing Tastes

Liverpool Street takes its name from the longest-serving prime minister, Lord Liverpool. It is a popular London destination with numerous iconic landmarks, such as Old Spitalfields Market, Finsbury Circus, and Leadenhall Market. It is home to one of London’s busiest stations and an active commuter area.

The Liverpool Street area is a business and financial hub, with the Bank of England and London Stock Exchange nearby. Easy train access across the city and to Stansted Airport makes it a great base for holidaymakers. The many restaurants in the area cater to hungry passengers and city workers. Here is our guide to six Liverpool Street restaurants.

The Best Liverpool Street Restaurants in London

1. Jamaica Patty – Jamaica’s Cornish Pasty

Liverpool Street Restaurants

Terresa Roberts founded Jamaica Patty in 2013 to bring authentic Jamaican flavours and aromas to the UK. She missed the Jamaican patty experience and could not buy freshly baked ones, so she decided to fill the gap.

Thought to be inspired by the Cornish pasty from settlers, the Jamaican patty uses Jamaican spices and scotch bonnet chillies for a unique taste. Much like the Cornish counterpart, Jamaican patties are enjoyed any time of the day as a snack or meal. With this in mind, the restaurant is both takeaway and eat-in.

The patties are freshly baked in the restaurant, using traditional recipes handed down from Terresa’s father. In addition to the authentic Jamaican Patty, JPC has developed some new patties to bring other original Jamaican flavours to UK customers.

  • Patty’s prices are £3.95 for takeaway and £4.75 to dine in. Pattie flavours are; Spicy Beef, Beef, Chicken, Jerk Chicken, Curried Goat, Vegetable, Vegan and Ackee with Saltish.
  • Ackee is Jamaica’s national fruit, used in cooking.
  • Meal options are Curried Goat for £9.95 or Jerk Chicken and a Vegan Stew, both priced at £8.95.
  • Soups, cakes, and hot and cold drinks are also available. The Tortuga Rum cake is a huge hit and one of the best cakes I’ve ever eaten.

The Jamaica Patty might be small, but it packs a punch of flavour. It is one of London’s hidden gems.

2. Miyako – Authentic Japanese

Liverpool Street Restaurants 1

The Miyako is part of the Hyatt restaurant group and serves authentic Japanese. Head chef Kosai Sakamoto learnt his trade in Japan before bringing his talents to London.

The restaurant’s decor follows a Japandi style, a combination of Japanese and Scandinavian design, which is modern and simple, using quality natural materials and an uncluttered but elegant interior. The simplicity of the decor allows the dishes to take centre stage, as Japanese cuisine is an art form.

The Miyako’s extensive menu includes Sushi, Sashimi, Maki, Tempura, Chirashi and more.

  • A spicy and salty edamame starter is £4.50, or an Ika Tempura, fried squid with miyoko spicy sauce, for £12.50.
  • Sushi and Sashimi start at £2.50 per slice for a Tamago Japanese Omelette or £7.50 a portion for Hamachi Yellowtail.
  • Miyako’s house recommendations include Tuna Tataki with truffle oil and soy for £14.50 and Seafood Ramen for £22.00.

The drinks menu includes a range of Japanese cocktails, spirits and sake.

Overall, in my opinion, the quality and presentation are worth the price, and the food is delicious. The restaurant is an ideal choice for both casual lunches and special occasions.

3. Revolve Brasserie – A New Era of Dining

Liverpool Street Restaurants 2

Revolve Brasserie is a modern and lively venue drawing inspiration for its style from the grand brasseries of Paris and New York.

Following the informal brasserie approach, Revolve’s all-day menu is simple, serving traditional favourites during the week. The restaurant reshapes at weekends into a unique experience with a revolving list of some of the world’s best guest chefs bringing with them new and exciting menus.

Complementing the cuisine is a seasonal wine list and a considerable cocktail list. I appreciate the fact that you can enjoy the atmosphere in the bustling, award-winning interior or relax outside on the spacious terrace.

Revolve recognises extended lunch breaks are a luxury in today’s busy world, so they have created an express lunch menu option. The menu serves two or three courses of tasty dishes within 30 minutes.

Two courses are £22.50 and three courses are £25.50. A two-course example could be Home made Pork Rillettes followed by Cumberland Sausage Cassoulet.

The main menu has small plates, appetisers, salads and main courses.

  • An appetiser of Escargots is £12.50; Beef Tartare is £15.50 for one or £26.00 to share.
  • A main of Salade Niçoise is £18.95, or South Coast Fish Pie is £19.50. A Vegan burger from the grill section is £15.95.
  • Deserts include Chocolate Fondant and Spiced Pear Financier for £9.00.

Revolve Brasserie has a relaxed and casual atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. The food is of a high standard, and I recommend the venue for intimate dining or suitable for a business lunch in Liverpool Street.

4. The Truffle Burger – Street Food Roots

Liverpool Street Restaurants 3

The Truffle Burger began as a street food stall before opening its first bricks and mortar establishment in Soho. Their Liverpool Street food restaurant was their second permanent diner.

Their goal was to create a place where everyone could access and enjoy the black truffle, or ‘black diamond’ as it is also known. They wanted to elevate the fast food burger to a gourmet experience.

The Truffle Burger achieves its aim by using 90-day aged rare-breed British beef. All burgers come with melted traditional French raclette cheese, topped with homemade fig jam and black truffle mayonnaise, in handmade demi-brioche buns.

In addition, the Truffle Burger comes with a beef and smoked bacon pattie and crispy onions for £10.85.

  • There is a Truffle Honey Chicken for £11.35, and a
  • Veggie Truffle Burger with a Beyond Meat patty for £11.35.

For an additional £4.00, you can double up your burger.

Sides include,

  • Truffle and parmesan fries for £4.20, and
  • Truffle mayo for £2.00.

A selection of soft drinks is available, and a Hackney Brewery Pale Ale for £5.20.

The Truffle Burger is a fantastic place to lunch in Liverpool Street or to satisfy late-night cravings. If you are too busy to pop in for your burger, they will deliver to your home or place of work.

5. Duck and Waffle – 40th Floor Dining Room

Liverpool Street Restaurants 6

The Duck and Waffle established its home on the 40th floor of 110 Bishopgate in 2012. The restaurant’s name comes from its signature dish, Duck & Waffle, which has sold over two million.

The dish consists of a crispy leg confit, fried duck egg, and mustard maple syrup, served on a waffle, for the price of £24.00.

Other waffle toppings include smoked salmon, eggs Florentine, avocado, caramelised banana, and lemon meringue.

While you tuck into the dish, you can enjoy the views 24/7 as the restaurant does not close. The restaurant serves various menus throughout the day and night, from breakfast to late-night bites and a Sunday roast.

The late-night menu is available from 12.00 am to 5.30 am, and options include,

  • Pork and Apple Corn Dog, £9.00
  • Spicy ox-cheek doughnut, £14.00
  • Cheesy Polenta Croquetas, £4.00

The Duck and Waffle have the highest private dining room in the country, which is available to hire for parties of up to 250 guests, 24/7.

From the views to the attentive staff and the outstanding food, it has to be one of the best restaurants near Liverpool Street.

6. Café Luca – Mediterranean Kitchen and Bar in the Heart of London

Liverpool Street Restaurants 5

Café Luca is one of a few family-run restaurants near Liverpool Street. Guided by North Africa, the Middle East and European, focusing on Mediterranean and seasonal ingredients, the café uses food to bring people together.

Enter Café Luca and step into the Mediterranean. The clever greenery design entangled in an overhead pergola and plenty of natural light recreates the feeling of being in a Mediterranean restaurant.

The chefs cook much of the food over a charcoal fire in the open kitchen.

  • Some of their popular dishes include Lamb Shamwarma, at £17.00.
  • Spiced cauliflower for £6.50.

In my experience, Café Luca is an absolute gem. The atmosphere is delightful, the decor is Instagram-worthy, and the food quality is top-notch. The staff is incredibly helpful, making it a must-visit destination for one of the best dining experiences on Liverpool Street.
