NW3 Together is a partnership between Age UK Camden’s day centre Henderson Court and Hampstead Community Centre. The two have come together to share resources and expertise to help reach older people in the community, help prevent social isolation and build a stronger more supportive neighbourhood.
Age UK Camden is the local Age UK and the boots on the ground delivering services to vulnerable older people in the borough of Camden. Although it’s affiliated to the national campaigning organisation, Age UK, it is a separate and standalone charity, with less than 2% of its income coming from Age UK.
Services include Counselling – not every older person has a stiff upper lip, Care Navigation, to help organise treatment and hospital appointments for those with a serious health diagnosis, Information and Advice for people who need help with a particular issue, befriending for those who are housebound with no friends or family and specialist Dementia Wellbeing services.
Henderson Court, on the corner of Fitzjohn Avenue and Prince Arthur Rd, is one of two day centres run by the charity (the other is in King’s Cross), providing a place where people can go to meet their friends, enjoy activities and sit down together to enjoy a freshly-cooked, three-course lunch. It also offers space for rent, including a large studio with a mirror and wooden floor, treatment and meeting rooms. Prices from £10 p/h.
Hampstead Community Centre and Community Market is an independent charity making a real difference to peoples’ lives with a range of groups and clubs, including affordable play schemes, an over 60s club, and help provide access to advice, advocacy and counselling. It also offers space for rent to local support groups and for activities. Prices from £10 p/h.
