If, like us, you are one of the long-suffering, coffee-loving Londoners tired of expensive, milky pints of coffee or simply craving a rich, satisfying espresso neither stewed nor burnt, then this news should please you! In July 2009 a new breed of British coffee shop opened its doors and began serving excellent coffee alongside British-inspired cakes, sandwiches, breakfasts and salads to discerning Londoners.
Launched by London food stylist, Tonia George and restaurant consultants, Emma and Nicholas Scott, the philosophy may have Antipodean roots but the style is strictly British. Local ingredients come direct from the farm and sublime coffee beans from boutique roastery Square Mile Coffee Roasters. Run by a couple of exceedingly clever coffee lovers, including a world champion barista, they source seasonal beans from all over the world and hand roast them in East London.
