My Hampstead: Laura Medlock

EACH MONTH WE SPEAK TO A LOCAL RESIDENT OR BUSINESS OWNER TO GET THEIR TAKE ON THE VILLAGE; WHAT BROUGHT THEM HERE AND WHY DID THEY STAY? THIS MONTH: HAMPSTEAD THROUGH THE EYES OF LAURA MEDLOCK.

How long have you been a resident / business owner in Hampstead?

Since November 2017 alongside my business partner (& mother!) Debbie.

What brought you to Hampstead?

Being close to my business quickly became a must, and what’s not to love!

How well do you know the area?

Shamefully not as well as I would like to given that I live so close. I’m still finding new gems all the time, which I think is what makes Hampstead such a great place to work in.

What would be your recommendation for a newcomer to the area to familiarise themselves?

Explore all the little alleys and wander Hampstead on foot. I’ve found the best way to settle into Hampstead is to go for a stroll and see where the wind takes you. I’ve stumbled across some of my favourite places from getting lost whilst out exploring.

Where do you go for:

Brunch Not quite brunch but the Creperie is a must!

Lunch/Dinner? It has to be a Sunday roast at The Hollybush. Very lucky to be working so close to such a fantastic pub and the perfect spot for a well-deserved roast after a long walk.

Drinks? The Horsehoe

Dinner?  The Flask

Where do you go to escape?

Provided we’re graced with some glorious British weather, the Hampstead ponds are the perfect place to escape to and enjoy the sun during a refreshing swim.

Any upcoming festivals that people ‘must’ see?

Hampstead Summer Festival of course! Pop by French & Corry and say hello.

What is your favourite thing about Hampstead in Spring?

The Heath, we’re very lucky to have such a beautiful park on our doorstep and it really comes to life in Spring.
