Ash Griffiths, Wagamama Hampstead

Each month we speak to a local resident or business owner to get their take on the Village; what brought them here and why did they stay? This month: Hampstead through the eyes of Ash Griffiths, general manager of Wagamama Hampstead.

What brought you to Hampstead?

I live in Islington, but have always loved Hampstead, so when the position became available at a new Wagamama in the area I jumped at the opportunity.

How well do you know the area?

Since working here I have really got to know the area. I spend a lot of time going for walks around the village – and who can say no to visiting the Heath on a sunny day!

What was the thinking behind setting up a Wagamama in Hampstead?

Hampstead is a key destination for eating out, socialising and has a strong sense of community. Everything that Wagamama loves and stands for.

What is its place in the community?

Wagamama is like no place else to eat. It’s a pan-Asian noodle restaurant with friendly service and value for money. Food fans of Hampstead have fallen in love with the delicious noodles, ramen, curry dishes, salads, fresh juices and much more (including a kids’ mini-menu).

There is something for everyone. The people of Hampstead have really taken to Wagamama. We have built up a strong rela-tionship and have many regulars coming in weekly for their favourite dishes!

What would be your recommendation for a newcomer to the area to familiarise themselves?

Hampstead is a great community. My advice would be to get involved, take in the sights and enjoy everything the village has to offer!

What are your top three favourite things about Hampstead?

The friendly residents, the beautiful scenery and the history behind it all. I love the history and the culture here. I feel like every day I discover something new.

Where do you like to go that no one else knows?

I like to try and visit the Everyman Cinema whenever I have a night off.

Apart from Wagamama, where are you favourite eateries in the area?

Gails have great pastries for brunch.

Any upcoming festivals that people ‘must’ see?

The Christmas event is going to be great fun this year, there is loads going on and Wagamama will be there to spread some festive joy! I love the Christmas lights, they are always beautiful and really make everything feel festive.
