About Queensmead Recreation Ground

  • 🐶 Great for walking dogs, but there are some uneven areas on the grass.
  • 💺 Has a couple of benches and a tarmac path for easy access.
  • 🌳 Beautiful old Parkland with a children’s playground, bowls club, War Memorial, and small woodland area.
  • 📆 Steeped in history as it was purchased in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s reign and used to host Bromley fairs and gatherings.
  • 💔 Sadly, the area has suffered from floods and Dutch elm disease which resulted in the demolition of picturesque elements like elms. However, efforts are being made under the Ravensbourne Valley Restoration Scheme.
  • ⚽ Once used for cricket matches during summer but is now mainly reserved for football games.
  • ✅ Mixed opinions: Some find it enjoyable while others find it just “okay.”
  • ❌ No toilets available on-site.

Options: Wheelchair-accessible entrance, Dogs allowed, Slides, Swings, Good for kids, Playground
